Our November speaker is Will Herring, owner of Brazos River
Fish Camp: a fly fishing oriented outfitting business on the
Brazos River, south of Lake Whitney. Brazos River Fish Camp
was born out of the desire to share an amazing stretch of the
Brazos River (27 miles) that is challenging to access. Clear
water, abundant bass, cliffs, and bald eagles – it is a Central
Texas paradise.
Will owns the camp with his wife Jordan, who also guides with
him. They and their clients can easily access part of the river
using rafts, a jet boat and airboats – with airboats allowing
them to fish 15+ miles of the Brazos in a day. We also offer all inclusive on-site river view accommodations to allow for an
immersive experience with both the river and the setting.
Will is sharing these special sections of the river and discuss
flies, rods, techniques, watercraft and access, including some
DIY trip options. Target species are: largemouth bass, spotted
bass, smallmouth bass, sunfish, Gasper Goo, carp, buffalo,
spotted gar, and longnose gar.
Will Herring was a real-estate lawyer in Austin for 5 years and
then built a processing plant turning feral hogs into pet food.
He has been avid fly angler for 28 years.
Jordan Marsh studied fisheries biology and has held several
different jobs in the private sector and with state agencies.
Jordan’s years of fly-fishing experience exceeds Will’s, with 32
years under her belt.
