With the June 6 meeting we begin our Summer Learning Series, which will continue in August.

NOTE: THIS IS A SPECIAL EVENT. DO NOT GO TO OUR USUAL VENUE AT UNT HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER. .

The June Casting Clinic will start at 5 p.m. at the Panther Island Pavilion area, 395 Purcey St.. This will be an opportunity on-the-water experience with roll casting and with kayak fishing, a chance for all fly fishers to improve their techniques. If you have a kayak, bring it and you’ll get some tips on handling as well. We will put into the Trinity River and get some real hands-on experience. Expand your horizons!

The casting areas are in great shape — wide open area, no trees, and grass maintained. Bring your own equipment so we can best help with your casting needs and questions. This year, we will also have demo rods from suppliers for us to test. It will be June in Texas, so that means making sure you stay hydrated. Drinking water will be provided, but it never hurts to bring your own, too.

The best way to get to the area is to come down Purcey Street and go through the parking lot, go right and under the Henderson Street Bridge. Enter the gate that goes along the river to the paddling rental and launch area. NOTE: A gate code was emailed to members on June 5, along with other updates, so check your in box.
