The FWFF Coast outing is to the Rockport/Port Aransas area Sept. 8-11 (three nights). The base camp will be at Rockport’s Drifters Resort. We have secured cabins, cabanas, bungalows and cottages, each sleeping 2-3 people. The cost is approximately $175 a person total.

Please notify Bryce Bezant (rbbezant@gmail.com) or Brian Loria (brian.loria7@gmail.com) if you are interested. There will be a signup sheet at the August and September meetings. If you don’t have a roommate in mind, we can match you up. We anticipate 18 participants.

IMPORTANT!! UNLIKE PREVIOUS COAST OUTINGS, YOU WILL NEED TO CALL DRIFTERS RESORT AND RESERVE A SPOT BY PAYING A $50 DEPOSIT. TELL THEM YOU ARE WITH FWFF, UNDER THE NAME OF BRYCE BEZANT.

Contact Drifters Resort at (361) 727-9105. Their address is 4401 Texas 35 South, Rockport, TX 78382. You can make your own arrangements elsewhere, but we hope you will join us at Drifters Resort in the evenings for great camaraderie. Either way DON’T MISS THE SATURDAY NIGHT SHRIMP BOIL!!

This will be a kayak trip (no boat shuttles) and you will be fishing waters around Port Aransas and Rockport. Perfect kayaking and fishing abound in the skinny waters of Lighthouse Lakes and Brown and Root Flats. There are also numerous access spots along the back of Mustang Island.

Check out the trail maps for Lighthouse Lakes (just off the Port Aransas Causeway) at this website: https://tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/boat/paddlingtrails/coastal/lighthouse_lakes/.

Also, if you need a kayak or just don’t want to haul yours to the coast, contact the folks at Coastal Bend Kayaks (online at https://www.coastalbendkayaking.com/ or by phone at 361-557-7003) and they can fix you up for the weekend. Coastal Bend also offers guided kayak fishing which we can investigate depending on the interest and the number of people.

Let us know as soon as possible if you want to attend. The Drifters is nice enough to be holding the block of rooms, but we will need to release them over the next month. So either cut bait or fish… .
