FWFF member Les Jackson with a bass from one of his urban waters.

In June Fort Worth Fly Fishers held our first membership meeting via Zoom, and your Board of Directors thought it was a real success. Nearly 50 members were watching as President David Hooper launched the meeting and guest speaker Greg Welander guided us through his home fishing waters in the Texas Hill Country. Our regular meeting venue at the UNT Health Science Center is still closed, so we will again hold our monthly meeting online.

On July 7, the meeting will start with David reviewing club business and then go right into the program. It’s a double-header:

• First, FWFF member Les Jackson will present his long experiences with local and urban waters. For years Les has fooled surprisingly large fish from area creeks, rivers and ponds. He knows you don’t have to drive hours to find fish to catch, and he’ll show you how to do it.
• Then we’ll end the meeting with an Orvis video on the basics of inshore saltwater fishing. It’s an excellent source of information to get you started and on your way to catching some huge fish.

The entire meeting should last an hour. We understand you’ve been on plenty of online meetings lately, and we’ll try to make this as brief, fun, and informative as we can! Please joint us at 7 p.m. sharp.

How to join the July 7 membership meeting on Zoom

All you need is a computer, monitor and internet connection to participate. You’ll need to download the Zoom app, but you don’t have to create an account. Just watch for an email from FWFF President David Hooper with the necessary link to the meeting. Click on the link, enter the meeting number, and you’ll be in like Flint.

NOTE: To make sure you get David’s email, add president@fortworthflyfishers.org to your Contacts list or to your list of safe email senders. If you are a current, paid member, you should receive the email.
