Name: John Healey
FWFF member since (year): 2008
Fishing since: I was a little kid.
Favorite place to fly fish: Andros, Bahamas.
The last place I fly fished: Yellowstone Park, Wyoming.
My dream fly fishing trip is: Bonefishing in Andros. I’ve done this 3 times and can’t recommend it highly enough.
and with whom: Capt. Marvin Miller.
Favorite fish to catch: Bonefish.
Best fly fishing memory: My friend Kim Iglesia and I caught 3 nice permit (10, 20, and 30 lbs) on flies within 2.5 hours in Belize, all after midnight thanks to our fishing buddy Carl and his boat. There was a lot of laughing going on that night!
When I’m not fly fishing, I like to: Tie flies, practice casting, and plan the next fishing trip of course!
The reason I like fly fishing is: I love the beautiful environments, the interesting fish, the technical details, and the company of friends who share the same passion. I also like the solitude of fishing trips I occasionally take by myself. There is something deeply satisfying about catching fish on flies. It’s endlessly fascinating. The learning process never stops.
