Hello All,
I just wanted to send a brief note about some of the details for this weeks event..
Sunrise will be about 7:21 am and they predicting Sunny with lows in the the 50s and highs in the 70s. Nothing on winds yet.
For those who are staying in town on Friday we will meet for dinner and drinks at the Ochoa’s Mexican restaurant at 7pm on Friday the 27th. It is located right across the street from the Super 8 at 310 U.S 175 West, Athens TX. Dutch treat.
If you want breakfast on Saturday the Athens Cafe opens at 6am, and is located at 607 E Tyler St. Athens TX. They have a great breakfast buffet and an omelet chef.
Schedule for Saturday:
Meet at lake Athens Marina at 7ish AM , launch and fish away.
Meet for lunch and festivities back at Marina at 1 pm.
(Lunch provided by Danny’s BBQ and hosted by DFF and FWFF)
Then, back to fishing in the afternoon.
The gathering will at Patio be behind the restaurant , look for signs and banner.
You might bring a lawn chair, there are some tables and chairs but probably not enough.
Note: Restaurant is closed but we have permission to use the patio from Athens Municipal Water Authority. The Water Authority has also provided Port o Pots for our event.

You will need a water craft to fish lake Athens but the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center is open and still full of lots of trout left over from Fly Fish Texas. So, those who would like can fish there and join us for festivities at 1pm.
Currently we have no more boat seats available.
Recommended Gear:
Flies: are pretty basic, clouser, bait fish patterns, woolys (all colors), leach patterns, your favorite Fly , throw it.
Rods : carry a 5 and a 6 wt, use floating line to cast into and over grass, use sink lines to change up and get it a little deeper.
Be ready because you can get a bluegill or a 6 pound bass. Set the hook!
Contest: Lets make it Sporty
(This is a Catch an Release event but please take pictures) take pictures on a measure board because there will a prize for best Bluegill and best Bass
Rules:
One submission from each contestant for each species
Picture must be taken on a fish measure ruler with measure makers clearly visible
(Nose with tail pulled back)
Smartphone users can send pictures to candancemartinez@gmail.com Those without smartphones may submit in person at patio.
All submission must be in by 1:30 pm.
Winners announced and Prize drawings at 2:30pm
