Many of the FWFF members are also members of Trout Unlimited. Because we are TU members in Texas, we are automatically put into the Guadalupe River Chapter. Troutfest is an annual event hosted by the GRTU that includes a banquet, expert fly tying demonstrations, and an auction. This year’s featured guest speaker is Frank Smethurst. If you don’t know Mr. Smethurst, he is the left handed angler that can be seen running down the beach chasing Rooster fish in Baja in the film “Running Down the Man“. He was also a member of the group that brought us to learn about the huge fish in Kamchatka in the film “Eastern Rises“.
