President’s Message

You have reached the website of one of the fastest-growing and largest fly fishing clubs in the Southwest.

Our club is an organization of men, women and young adults with many different backgrounds and convictions. Our connection is an intense interest in the sport of fly fishing. We have varying degrees of expertise in the sport and are eager to learn and teach as we continue to develop our skills. Many members have immense fly fishing knowledge and skills, and they are happy to share.

Our main focus is fishing.  We target warm water and cold water fish species in Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma, and salt-water species on the Gulf Coast. Many of us fish in the far reaches of the United States and the World, and we also take an annual trip to the Southwest part of Colorado to fish for trout, a refreshing relief from our high heat summers.

A primary interest in addition to fishing is conservation. We take an active part in cleaning up our local and regional lakes, streams, and ponds. We are currently working to develop and maintain access points to our rivers and lakes, and help to establish and improve the quality of fish habitat in our fishing environments!

Another huge aspect at the heart of our club is the teaching and instruction of fly fishing.  This includes: tying flies, casting, line and rod selection, entomology, knot tying, reading rivers and lakes, conservation, and many other skills of our sport. We also donate time and resources to organizations requesting our help and expertise.

Our club also organizes and conducts monthly outings that usually involve a Friday and Saturday night stay. In addition to our monthly outings we plan to implement local fishing outings to allow us to practice our skills while not having to dedicate a full weekend away from home. These local sessions can help make our long-range trips more productive and enjoyable.

We are a proud member of the International Federation of Fly Fishers “IFFF” an international organization dedicated to the advancement of fly fishing worldwide, the IFFF offers many advantages to the individual and club members through local, regional and statewide events all dedicated to the education of fishing.

Our club meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM at the University of North Texas Fort Worth Campus. We often have a prominent speaker from our local area, the region and many times of national acclaim.

Please look through this website and associated links. Should you find you are interested in our club and need more information, please don’t hesitate to call, respond via our website or social media links, and feel free to join us at one of our monthly meetings. We would love to talk to you about your interest and your fly fishing goals.

Hope to see you soon,

Rick Haness
